Our Heritage

In 1993, Ross Perot Jr. purchased the 2,500-acre Circle T Ranch, laying the foundation for what would become Hillwood Land & Cattle, a Perot Company. At that time, the ranch’s herd consisted of roughly 200 registered Texas Longhorn cows and bulls.

A few years later, under the leadership of Johnie Daniel, Hillwood Land & Cattle purchased 250 Brangus-bred heifers from ranches across West Texas. From this initial cowherd, the team developed the high-quality Brangus herd that continues to graze throughout the Alliance corridor today—including Circle T Ranch, Hunter Ranch, and surrounding Hillwood properties.

Founding Members

In 2002, the Hillwood Land & Cattle team was officially formed, pictured left to right: Brett Burton, Johnie Daniel and Daniel Kerry at the Circle T Ranch. Together, they set the standard for ranch operations, herd development, and the agricultural legacy that continues today.

Excellence in the Arena

Since 2004, the Hillwood Land & Cattle team has participated in the Commercial Heifer Show and Sale at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. Over the years, the team has earned multiple Brangus Champion titles, including being named Grand Champion Overall and Reserve Grand Champion Overall in 2025—a reflection of the ranch’s dedication to quality breeding and livestock management.

The Fort Worth Stock Show Tradition

Hillwood Land & Cattle’s support of the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo is rooted in the Perot family’s legacy, beginning with the purchase of the Grand Champion in 1976. That moment marked the start of an annual philanthropic tradition that continues nearly five decades later.

Since 2002, Hillwood’s support has provided more than $3 million to youth in 4H and FFA programs, as well as to county fairs across North Texas—including the Fort Worth Stock Show Sale of Champions.

This enduring commitment reflects Hillwood Land & Cattle’s mission: honoring the heritage of Texas ranching while investing in the future of agriculture and the next generation of ranchers.
